Broken pipe from Cameco's Welcome Waste Management Facility dumps onto Port Hope beach

In late August, Lake Ontario Waterkeeper was one of 100 intervenors that took part in a licencing hearing for a massive low-level radioactive waste project in Port Hope, Ontario. Waterkeeper, other intervenors, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, and journalists all seemed to struggle with the same question: how do you criticize the specific details of a project like this while at the same time supporting the general aims? On this episode of Living at the Barricades, Mark and Krystyn talk to Sanford Haskill, whose family has been watching over the Lake Ontario shoreline for over 200 years, and discuss role of the Ontario government in landfill regulation. In the last segment of the show Swim Drink Fish Music featured artist Dave Bidini joins us for one our most entertaining interviews yet.
