Miller Thompson partner recognized as a powerhouse among Canadian women

Miller Thomson LLP is proud to announce that Nora Osbaldeston, Office Managing Partner of Miller Thomson’s Toronto and Markham offices has been recognized as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network.

The Top 100 Awards honour women who are proven achievers in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors in eight categories. Ms. Osbaldeston is recognized in the “Professionals” category for her role in management, vision and leadership, corporate performance, and community service at Miller Thomson.

“Nora leads the Toronto and Markham offices with intelligence, confidence and grace, always with a view to the future and respect for others,” says Gerald Courage, Chair of Miller Thomson. “Team work, team recognition and empathy are the pillars of her vision and leadership style. It is because of leaders like Nora that we are able to advance the firm on a national level.”

Ms. Osbaldeston is an influential member of the firm with responsibilities for all facets of the business from financial performance to strategic planning. She has the unique ability to bolster loyalty from lawyers and employees alike through a coaching and managing style based on trust and empowerment. With a vision to the future, Ms. Osbaldeston also makes it a priority to set aside time to mentor and train young lawyers providing them with guidance and support in their challenging early years of practice. She is dedicated to the advancement of a number of firm initiatives including knowledge management, recruitment, professional development, employee recognition, and business development; and has been an important driver in the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative.

Ms. Osbaldeston’s commitment to the community is exemplary. She has sat on numerous charitable boards and is a founding and active member of Lake Ontario Waterkeeper; she has held several positions with UNICEF Canada; and she is and has been a dedicated volunteer with a number of not-for-profit organizations including the Catholic Family Services of Toronto, Habitat for Humanity and the Law Society of Upper Canada.

About Nora Osbaldeston

Ms. Osbaldeston is the Office Managing Partner of the Toronto/Markham offices of Miller Thomson. Prior to her election as Office Managing Partner, she held the position of National Chair of the firm’s Financial Services Group and Ontario Co-Chair of the firm’s corporate department. In addition to her management role, Nora continues to practice in the firm’s Financial Services group with a focus on debt financing. She acts for banks and other institutional lenders on a wide range of secured and unsecured lending transactions, including both domestic and multi-jurisdictional syndicated and single lender financings. She also represents corporate borrowers in their dealings with financial institutions and other lenders.
