Cameco Corporation registers lobbyist with provincial registry

Cameco Corporation has registered lobbyist Robert Lea to represent its interests at Queen’s Park. Read the original posting here.    

Cameco, with its head office in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is one of the world’s largest uranium producers. The company’s uranium products are used to generate electricity in nuclear energy plants around the world, providing one of the cleanest sources of energy available today. Cameco’s shares trade on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges.

Lea will be lobbying the following departments regarding energy and environment:

  • Members of Provincial Parliament 
  • Ministry of Economic Development and Trade 
  • Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure 
  • Ministry of Northern Development Mines and Forestry 
  • Ministry of the Environment 
  • Office of the Premier and Cabinet Office

Specific regulations are:

  • Proposal to amend Ontario regulation 419/05: air pollution – local air Quality, under the Environmental Protection Act, to include an Ontario Air Standard for uranium and uranium compounds 
  • Amendments to Ontario regulation 419/05: air pollution – local air quality (O. Reg. 419/05), including sector-based approach for improving air Pollution 
  • Proposed amendments Toxics Reduction Regulation, 2009
