Water plan opponents presenting at meeting

A controversial plan to take water from Millbrook via a 12- kilometre pipe to Fraserville returns to Cavan Monaghan Township council on Tuesday with several delegations opposing the project.

Scott McFadden, who is running for the deputy reeve seat in the October municipal election, will present a petition against the project with more than 1,200 signatures.

Earthroots, an environmental group, and Save the Oak Ridges Moraine will also make presentations.

The committee of the whole meeting starts at 1 p.m. at the township office.

Community residents have organized information meetings to help residents file objections with the Ministry of the Environment on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 402 in Millbrook, Feb. 27 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Legion, March 1 from 4-7 p.m. at the Legion and March 2 from 2-4 p.m. at Millbrook Manor for manor residents.
