Toronto Waterfront Revitalization gets go-ahead for waste site
Krystyn Tully,
June 25th, 2010

The TWRC has received key approvals from the Ministry of the Environment to construct a site on the Toronto waterfront for stockpiling and – hopefully – treating contaminated soils. The air approval is available online here and the waste site approval is available online here.

The project details have changed dramatically since Lake Ontario Waterkeeper first voiced concerns in March 2010. Since then, Waterkeeper, TWRC, the Ministry of the Environment, and a variety of technical consultants have been discussing how to move forward with waterfront revitalization and protect local air and water quality at the same time. The terms and conditions contained in the two approvals should achieve all of our goals.

More details about the project will be posted soon.
