Lake Ontario Waterkeeper and the Swim Drink Fish Music Club are excited to announce that Great Lake Swimmers are now featured at www.swimdrinkfishmusic.com. The group, led by Tony Dekker, has contributed three live tracks as well as a new studio recording created specially for Swim Drink Fish Music.

“It is an honour to release four different songs from Tony and Great Lake Swimmers. Their name, their music, and their spirit all capture perfectly the kind of world we Waterkeepers are working to create – a world where water is always top of mind and where everyone can safely touch, drink, and enjoy their local waterway,” says Waterkeeper & President Mark Mattson of Lake Ontario Waterkeeper.

Great Lake Swimmers’ most recent album, Lost Channels, won the 2010 Canadian Indie award for Favourite Folk/Roots Artist/Group, was shortlisted for the 2009 Polaris prize, and nominated for a Juno. Their songs will be released beginning in late July through mid-August.

See you on Wolfe Island this weekend

Lake Ontario Waterkeeper and Swim Drink Fish Music will be out in full-force at the Wolfe Island Music Fest, August 6-7 2010. The good folks at CBC labelled the Wolfe Island Music Festival one of Canada’s best, and it is easy to see why. The weekend is packed with sets from the best of the best on the Canadian music scene. (If you still need tickets, visit here for last-minute show and camping passes.)

Swim Drink Fish Music presents the TownHall Concert Friday night, featuring The Sadies with NQ Arbuckle and Daniel Romano. (The Sadies were featured with Gord Downie on SDFM in November, 2009. Tracks from NQ Arbuckle and Daniel Romano will be out later this year.)

Join us early at the Island Grill for the summer-patio-friendly sounds of The Harbour Sharks and Colleen and Paul (SDFM June 2010).

Join us late at the Island Grill for Bidiniband, supported by Monuments and Statues. (Dave Bidini donated the epic 25-song suite, SDFM September 2009)

Stop by the Swim Drink Fish Music booth Saturday to pick up your free membership benefits and SDFM merch. Don’t miss Justin Bird (SDFM June 2009) and the headlining Weakerthans on the mainstage, Saturday.

Take this incredible lineup of music acts, put it on an island in Lake Ontario, surround yourselves in good company and you have the recipe for an unforgettable summer weekend. See you there!

PS – And thanks of course to our sponsors, Jones Soda (free tastings on site) and Autoshare, as well as the fine folks who run the Wolfe Island Music Festival.
