The purpose of Official Plan Amendment No. 17 to the Township of Melancthon Official Plan is to redesignate approximately 48 hectares of land to allow for a new mineral aggregate extraction operation (gravel pit) by Strada Aggregates Inc.  The subject lands are located on the northeast corner of 4th Line and County Road No. 17.

The OPA proposes to add site-specific policies to the Official Plan to permit the proposed use, including  a comprehensive policy framework to guide implementation.  The proposed policies will require the proponent to enter into an agreement with the Township to ensure conditions of approval and development criteria will be met.

The Township of Melancthon Council adopted OPA No. 17 on January 20, 2011 with the passing of By-law 8-2011.
