Waterkeeper comments on Cameco’s Vision 2010 project
August 23rd, 2011

Cameco Corporation owns and operates a uranium conversion facility in Port Hope, Ontario. The plant is located at the heart of one of Lake Ontario’s most historic and environmentally vulnerable harbours. For decades, nuclear-related industrial pollution has affected water quality and the natural environment in and around Port Hope. Cameco currently has the opportunity to significantly reduce the levels of contamination on its Port Hope properties. It is an opportunity that Lake Ontario Waterkeeper hopes will be used to improve water quality and fish habitat around the plant.
