Environment agency says cuts will limit oversight – Technology & Science – CBC News

On October 20, 2011, CBC reported from Ottawa that a 43% budget reduction at the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency could mean layoffs for 80 people at a time when Canada’s major development projects are booming:

The federal watchdog that keeps an eye on natural resources projects to prevent environmental damage says it could soon be understaffed and overworked, limiting its ability to do its job.
