| Peel Region is inviting residents to weigh in on the future of our water infrastructure at an open house next Tuesday. The municipality is studying its water and wastewater infrastructure requirements over the next two decades. The objective is to identify long-term servicing plans for the Region’s lake-based water and wastewater systems to support growth to 2031 and to consider long-term servicing needs for growth beyond 2031. The Region’s lake-based systems strategy was last updated in 2007. The study, which covers Mississauga, Brampton and parts of Caledon, will define existing problems and opportunities, consider and evaluate solutions and identify preferred water and wastewater servicing strategies. The plans factor in 2031 targets set out in Ontario’s Places to Grow Plan (2005), and also deal with the Region’s capital plan to meet servicing agreements with York Region and the City of Toronto. As part of the process, the Region is inviting residents to provide input during two Public Information Centres. Tuesday’s session will be held at Regional headquarters, 10 Peel Centre Dr., in Brampton. It starts at 4 p.m. Representatives from the Region and its consultants will answer questions and discuss the next steps in the study. Another session will be held at a more advanced stage in the process to present updated findings and gather feedback.
