SWIM DRINK FISH CANADA is a growing charity working for a swimmable, drinkable, fishable future. Swim Drink Fish operates five programs: Great Lakes Challenge, Lake Ontario Waterkeeper, Swim Guide, Great Lakes Guide, and Watermark Project.
Our programs bring together law, science, culture, and digital media in order to connect and empower people to restore polluted places, protect human health, and promote thriving natural spaces. We are seeking a Communications and Marketing Manager to help us achieve our vision of swimmable, drinkable, fishable water for everyone. The Communications and Marketing Manager will use their skills in networking, media relations, writing, and planning to help us achieve our goal of building a national movement of active, informed, and engaged individuals working to ensure their communities can swim, drink, and fish forever.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting the the Vice President, the Communications and Marketing Manager will be responsible for the following:
Management of internal and external communications, including Campaign Calendar Management
Managing Media Relations and Speaker Requests
Overseeing Communications Content Final Review to ensure brand consistency across all programs, in accordance with brand guidelines
Managing the organization's social media channels
Management of content and mass communications to members of the Swim Drink Fish Community on behalf of Waterkeeper and Corporate divisions
Developing event messaging and providing speaker support and guest list management for SDF Canada events
Assisting in the update of websites and social channels, as necessary, to ensure adherence to brand guidelines
Developing new boilerplate materials to describe our various programs and their impact
Developing presentation materials, scripts, offering descriptions for Great Lakes Guide, Swim Guide, Gala and other programs as needed
Liaising with corporate partners and sponsors as needed
Planning and implementation of the organization’s year-end online Donation Drive
Desired Skills and Experience
Demonstrated experience in public relations, marketing, communications, or a similar field
Experience using Squarespace (or similar CMS), Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and social media management software
Experience creating and sending mass emails through software such as Mailchimp
Excellent written and oral skills
A passion for protecting our waterways and interest in working in a Non Profit environment
A team player, with a positive attitude who is cooperative, and helpful
French language skills and Salesforce experience would be assets
This is a full-time contract position for one year
Eligibility (set by the government funding body)
Must be 30 years of age or younger
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status
Educated with a minimum 2-year diploma
