Our annual Swim Drink Fish Gala is one day away and we have a wonderful evening planned. While celebrating swimmable, drinkable, fishable water, we will welcome five new ambassadors to the Swim Drink Fish family.
I couldn’t be happier welcoming these five ambassadors:
Loren King: An accomplished marathon swimmer, in August 2016 Loren swam the Marilyn Bell route across Lake Ontario. Loren is a founding member of Great Lakes Trust, a social entrepreneur and an associate professor at Wilfrid Laurier University.
Madhu Nagaraja: Madhu swam in his first open-water race in 2003 and since then has taken on some of the most challenging open-water swims, including Lake Ontario. Madhu is a founding member of Great Lakes Trust and an experienced corporate leader.
Nora Osbaldeston: Nora was a founding member of Lake Ontario Waterkeeper in 2001. She served on our board from 2001 to 2007 and is a former board chair. Nora is a partner and National Chair of the Financial Services Group at Miller Thomson LLP.
Tanis Rideout: Her first novel, Above All Things, was a critically acclaimed best-seller. Her award-winning poetry collection, Arguments with the Lake, grew out of her relationship with Lake Ontario Waterkeeper. We named Tanis the Poet Laureate of Lake Ontario in 2006.
Tim Thompson: Tim is a Toronto filmmaker who has created feature videos for our previous galas. Tim is a former professional hockey player and self-taught artist best known for his thought-provoking music montages opening CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada.
We are honoured Marilyn Bell Di Lascio will help us formally recognize these five during the gala. If you see them, please congratulate their commitment to a swimmable, drinkable, fishable future.
With this addition, this movement benefits from a fantastic group of 25 ambassadors across Canada. They promote water literacy and watershed awareness, kick-start education and protection programs, and build a strong Swim Drink Fish community.
