Quinte Region (665 articles)
The Bay of Quinte is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful areas of Lake Ontario. The shallow bay is vulnerable to pollution, but its warmer waters also support distinctive fish and wildlife populations. Sandy beaches create some of the most pleasurable swimming on the lake. The rough waters to the south of the Bay of Quinte caused many historic shipwrecks. Quinte is home to a number of small towns, the City of Belleville, and large industrial developments like cement kilns. Canadian Forces Base Trenton is located in the heart of the region.
