In February 2015, the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change announced the reintroduction of the Great Lakes Protection Act to legislation. Waterkeeper was quite pleased with this news.
On Wednesday, September 23, the Standing Committee on General Government will hold a public hearing to discuss Bill 66. This Act is designed to protect and restore the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin. Lake Ontario Waterkeeper and President, Mark Mattson is scheduled to present to the Standing Committee, sharing his vision for the Act in consideration to his experience with protecting Great Lakes.
