Bundle up, Ontario! This Saturday is the annual Lake Ontario Cup Tournament!
Every year, Mark Mattson and Team Waterkeeper joins the Wolfe Island community for a day on the ice. And this Saturday is the big day!
Six teams gather in the middle of winter to face off for non-stop action. Puck drops at noon. Last team standing will be announced tournament champion. As Lawrence Scanlon described it, "Playing shinny with strangers is as close as I will ever get to what musicians do when they are introduced to one another on a stage, utter a few code words, and proceed to play as if joined at the hip. That day by the docks was surely the best day of my winter." When the tournament's over and the gloves are off, enjoy some tunes and have a beer at the local Island pub.
All funds raised go to the Wolfe Island Community Centre. So get outside and cheer them on!
